BROADFIELD S13

(Jan 03 2011, 03:20 PM)

The first items that caught my eye are the massive Work S1 wheels. They are three piece items in 18"x9.5 +12 at the front and 18"x11 +30 in the rear. The original lug nuts have been replaced with Project Kics items in a neo chrome finish, as they call it.

Making a car better than it was intended by the makers is hard thing to do. But I have a feeling that Toby Broadfield, the owner of this car, has come very close. The list of things that Toby has done to this car is endless and I can only scratch the surface in this spotlight. So I'll start right away.

The front wheels are just clearing the Stoptech calipers that grip onto a 13" rotor. Toby could have gone with a contrasting color on the calipers but he went with the same color as the exterior of the car.

The rear brakes are taken from a Z32 together with the master cylinder and the handbrake. Pictures like these also reveal that Toby didn't go wild on the exterior of the car, a thing I can only applaud him for.

One of the freshest and cleanest engine bays with an SR20 I have seen in a while. The engine came from a S15 and has been fully rebuild with parts from Toda and Tomei. A Greddy R spec intercooler connects to custom 3" piping with a Tial 50mm blow off valve and the Greddy intake manifold.

A full list of mods can been viewed here.

Thanks to this Garrett GT3076R twin scroll turbo the engine has 400bhp and 336Nm and achieves this on normal pump gas. That is quite an increase when compared to the standard SR20 output.

The super clean interior features Bride Gias seats on Bride rails. The Bride theme continues on the rear deck, shift boot, arm rest and door cards. A Cusco 6 point roll cage also found its way into the interior but not after Toby powdercoated it black.

I love this Nardi deep corn wheel; behind you can see the custom cluster that Toby has made with defi 52 mm gauges.  The plastic piece you see in front of the gauges is actually a hud display, how cool is that?

It is difficult to see but there is a Buddyclub exhaust peeking through the rear bumper.

The exterior modifications have been kept to a minimum but the trained eye could have seen the Chargespeed 20mm wide front fenders. This car is a total opposite of the one the Matt showed you in his spotlight. But each car has its own charm and personal touch. This is what I love about our community, two cars built by two different people with a completely different outcome.
